Sparring
We spar several nights a week. A brand new student will spend up to 6 months training before they are ready to safely spar. All boxers are required to have a USA Boxing license.

Nope! We work with all levels of experience, including those brand new to boxing.

Yes. Evenings are the best time to come by - that’s when we have the most staff available to show you around.

Come by the gym! Registration is easiest in person. If you schedule a time, it’s helpful.

Boxing or wrestling shoes, a jump rope, boxing gloves (16 oz.), Mexican-style handwraps (180”), water, and a towel.

Yes. Several of our members are currently competing and many more are working towards it. Our fighters compete in local and national competitions and tournaments, including Golden Gloves.

Absolutely not! Female boxers of all ages train and spar at GBC, as well as compete in local and national competitions. We are actively trying to grow our roster of girls & women and increase opportunities for our female members to train and spar with each other.

No! Boxing has benefits for people of all ages. Our head coach has worked extensively with seniors and takes age into consideration when designing your training plan.

We do not allow parents to stay in the gym while kids train. They focus better without the distraction and it creates a more enjoyable training environment for our adult members. If you wish, you may stay for your child’s first session.

Sure! A one-day trial is $30. We can provide gloves and a jump rope. You will need hand wraps and water. If don’t have boxing shoes, you can train in your socks.

Roughly 90-minutes for beginners. As you advance, if you want to train longer, you can. (No extra cost.) Our competing fighters train up to 3-4 hours at a time.

It depends on your experience level. If you have prior boxing experience, you will be ready to start sparring sooner than a beginner. Our head coach will assess your skills when you start. A brand new boxer will usually train up to 4-6 months before they have learned the skills necessary to safely spar.

Yes, you will need a boxing license from USA Boxing. All of our members that spar or compete are licensed, as well as the head coach and his assistants. Having a sparring license creates a safe sparring environment.
